Blazers and Ties

Pupils should be wearing full uniform, including ties and blazers, now the extremely hot weather has passed. Pupils may remove blazers in lessons, with the permission of the teacher, but they must wear them when arriving / departing and moving around the college site. Pupils must also have their proud card on them every day.

PE Information

The PE Department have made a few amendments to their clubs for the week commencing Monday 18 September. Please see their temporary timetable attached. Also on the attachment is a QR code to the Swanmore PE Instagram page. There is lots of information on there for parents and pupils, so please follow 'Swanmoresport' to find out more!

Stagecoach 649/69 Service
As you are aware, we now have no Xelabus service to and from Bishops Waltham - this is now provided by the 649/69 services. Mr Jonathan has prioritised pupils on the 649 as follows and has asked a member of staff to supervise this to ensure fair travel for all:

·          Hampshire County Bus Pass Holders - these pupils are only allowed to travel on this service and not on the 69 service

·          Return ticket holders - those who already have a return ticket for the 649

·          New Year 7 pupils

·          Pupils who live in Botley & Hedge End and who need to travel on the 649 in order to get home

·          Bishop's Waltham pupils who are fare paying and who can travel on either the 649 or the 69 which leaves shortly after the 649

In addition, we are allocating any spare seats on the Swanmore College minibus to pupils who live in Bishops Waltham who can be dropped off in the square. In poor weather, pupils travelling on the 69 may wait in the Pupil Centre and go out just before the bus arrives, rather than wait outside.

Breaktime Football - Year 7 & 8

As of Monday 18 September, the MUGA will be available at first break for Year 8 pupils and second break for Year 7 pupils to play football. Pupils wanting to play will need to bring the correct footwear to change into each day for access to the MUGA. Footballs will be provided for the pupils to use.

Homework Detentions

Pupils who fail to complete homework on time will be set a breaktime detention. They will be informed of this by the subject teacher and reminded in tutor the next morning. Pupils who fail to attend their detention after 2 chances, will be sent to the Learning Hub. Please encourage your children to check and complete their weekly homework.

Junior Chef Programme 2023-24

Please see attached details of the next Junior Chef Programme being run by Eastleigh College. This is for pupils in Year 9, 10 or 11. Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.

Year 7

CAT Tests: On Tuesday 19 September Year 7 will be completing CAT tests. The tests will be completed during tutor time and period 1 and 2 on Chromebooks or in IT Suites. All pupils in Year 7 will be sitting these tests at the same time. Please do emphasise to your child that these tests are a positive, and absolutely nothing to worry about. They cannot prepare for these assessments: they are purely there to help teaching staff learn more about how to support them. These assessments are flexible and allow pupils as much time as they need to complete them. Some pupils may take longer than others to finish.

Can we please ask that pupils bring their headphones with them for these assessments. The computers have a standard headphone jack and so newer iPhone headphones/wireless headphones will not be suitable. We will have a very small number of headphones available, so please make sure your child has them with them on the correct day of the test. The results of these tests will be shared in due course.
