A Week of Teamwork and Triumph

Last week saw our pupils demonstrating their sporting prowess across a variety of disciplines, from football and volleyball to golf and rugby. Here's a summary of their achievements:

Year 7 Girls Football at Westgate School

Our Year 7 girls' football team travelled to Westgate School for their latest league fixtures on Tuesday. They faced Henry Beaufort, with Louisa scoring our goal in a narrow defeat. However, the team bounced back with a 1-0 victory against Crestwood, once again thanks to a goal from Louisa. Well done, girls!

Our Year 8 and 9 girls' football team hosted Romsey School in a league fixture on Wednesday. The team delivered a dominant performance, securing an impressive 11-0 victory. Goal scorers for Swanmore were: Leah (6), Sienna (2), Emilia, Dixie, and Dahla. Fantastic effort, girls!

Year 9/10 Girls Volleyball vs. St Anne’s School

We hosted St Anne’s School for a Year 9 and 10 Girls Volleyball match in the Hampshire Schools Volleyball Championships. The girls put up a strong fight in a close encounter, ultimately losing 2-1 overall. The deciding game was particularly tight, with a score of 21-19. Emily was named Players' Player. Despite the loss, the team has qualified for the Super 6’s after Easter. Congratulations, girls!

County Schools Team Golf Championships

Earlier this month, we entered two teams into the County Schools Team Golf Championships at Hockley Golf Club. Our pupils competed exceptionally well, with some outstanding individual performances. One of our teams emerged victorious and has qualified for the National Event in July! A special mention to Zachary, who achieved the highest individual Stableford points score.

Year 10 Rugby Friendly vs. Bohunt School

On Tuesday, we hosted Bohunt School for a Year 10 friendly rugby match. The boys faced a tough challenge but played well, with excellent tackling and proved a tenacious opposition. The first half saw Bohunt dominate, but the second half was much closer, with Logan scoring a well-deserved try for Swanmore. This was a valuable learning experience for the team, especially playing against a Bath Academy player. It was a great game played in the right spirit. Well done, boys!
