The Learning Hub

Following extensive consultation and feedback from parents, pupils and staff voice, as well as a review of the current process, we will be trialling some new procedures in the Learning Hub after the Easter holiday.
New Process for the Learning Hub
This trial will run throughout the Summer Term, at which point, we will review its success. If the trial proves effective, we will consider updating our Behaviour Policy accordingly.
Current System
At present, if a pupil is sent to the Learning Hub, after receiving 3 ticks on their Proud Card, they are in the Learning hub for 3 periods.
If a pupil is sent to the Learning Hub for any other reason, they are in the Learning Hub for 6 periods.
Trial System
Under the new trial, pupils will have the opportunity to leave the Learning Hub earlier, depending on their behaviour and engagement. If a pupil is sent to the Learning Hub for 3 ticks on their Proud Card, they could leave after 2 periods if they:
- Go to the Learning Hub when asked.
- Follow all instructions.
- Work hard and do not distract others.
If a pupil is sent to the Learning Hub for 6 periods, they could leave after 4 periods, provided they meet the same expectations.
Expectations whilst in the Learning Hub
Pupils are expected to meet the following standards whilst in the Learning Hub:
- Do not speak or distract others. If assistance is needed, they should raise their hand and wait for the member of staff.
- Work hard. There is no minimum or maximum amount of work, however, pupils should always be focused.
- Complete a reflection sheet to reflect on their behaviour.
Sanction Reset
If pupils engage in any of the following behaviours, their sanction will reset:
- Writing on their record sheet.
- Leaving the room without permission.
- Being found in possession of a mobile phone.
Tick or Warning
Each time a pupil meets these expectations they will receive a tick. If a pupil breaks any of the Learning Hub rules, they will be given a warning. The warning system is as follows:
- 0 warnings: pupil may leave early.
- 1st warning: pupil will remain for the standard session time.
- 2nd warning: additional session will be added.
- 3rd warning: another session will be added.
- 4th warning: pupil will be removed, and the sanction will be reset, either with a suspension or relocation elsewhere.
Breaks
Pupils will have a 15-minute break at 10:50 and 13:10. Pupils may eat their food or use the toilet at this time only.
We hope this trial will encourage pupils to take greater responsibility for their actions and reflect on their behaviour in a more constructive way. We will be monitoring the trial closely and will seek feedback at the end of the Summer Term.
We are grateful to you for your continued support.
Kind regards
