Sporting highlights for the week commencing 10 February 2025.

A busy week of sporting activity before the half-term break saw our pupils involved in handball, cricket, football, athletics, and netball. Here's a roundup of the action:

Handball at Petersfield School and Swanmore College

Our Year 10 GCSE PE boys travelled to Petersfield School for a Hampshire Cup Handball event, which also served as the first round of the National Cup. The team's progress since before Christmas was evident, and they gave both Petersfield and Toynbee Schools a competitive game. This experience will be invaluable for their upcoming GCSE PE practicals.

Similarly, our U15 Girls Handball team participated in the Hampshire Handball Championships, hosted here at Swanmore, alongside Petersfield and Toynbee Schools. These GCSE PE pupils also gained valuable competitive experience, and we are hopeful that this will translate into strong practical scores.

Well done to all who played.

Our U13 Girls Cricket team travelled to Portsmouth High School for an Indoor Cricket Tournament last Friday (07 February). The team performed well, giving their opponents some excellent games. We are excited to see their progress during the summer cricket season.

Year 7 Boys Football at Mountbatten School

Our Year 7 Boys Football team continued their Eastleigh & District league fixtures on Tuesday, travelling to Mountbatten School. They played against both Toynbee and Mountbatten, putting in strong performances against both schools, although they were unable to secure a win this time. Well done to Reuben, who was on the scoresheet for Swanmore.

Friendly Football Tournament at Swanmore College

We hosted a friendly football tournament on Wednesday, welcoming Mayville School from Southsea. Three Swanmore teams and two Mayville teams competed against each other in a series of matches, played in excellent spirit by both schools. Congratulations to our Swanmore C team on their victory! A special thank you to our Year 10 Sports Leaders – Andrew, Lewis, Bradley, Joe, Josh, and Carter – for their invaluable assistance in running the event.

Sportshall Athletics at Perins School

Our students represented the College at the Eastleigh & Winchester District Schools Sportshall Athletics competition held at Perins School on Wednesday. All our pupils worked hard and performed well, with our girls' team finishing a commendable 4th overall.
