Swanmore Sport Weekly Roundup
Last week saw a range of sporting activities for Swanmore College teams, from competitive matches to engaging events.
Year 9 Football
Our Year 9 boys football team faced a tough challenge in the District Cup against John Hanson Community School on Monday. In a closely contested match, both teams displayed excellent footballing skills, resulting in a 1-1 draw. Evan scored a fantastic goal for Swanmore. Unfortunately, John Hanson prevailed in a closely fought penalty shoot out. A cruel way to exit the cup; football can be hard at times! We are proud of the way the team battled, on another day luck would have been with us!
Cross Country Success
Several of our Year 7 and 8 students competed in the Eastleigh & Winchester District Schools Cross Country Trials in Winchester on Tuesday. Congratulations to Fraser (Year 7) and Milo (Year 8) for their outstanding performances, finishing in the top 20 of their respective races. Well done to all who participated.
Year 5/6 Sportshall Athletics
We hosted a successful Year 5 and 6 Sportshall Athletics event on Tuesday. A special thank you to our Year 10 Sports Leaders who contributed significantly to the smooth running of the event, adding to the Leadership hours needed for the course. Well done to all involved; the event was a great success.
Key Stage 3 Badminton
Our Key Stage 3 Badminton squad competed against Deer Park School this week. Our teams, two boys' teams and a girls' team showcased impressive badminton skills in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles matches. While Deer Park ultimately emerged victorious, our students demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and a strong competitive spirit, winning many games.
U16 Basketball
Our U16 Basketball team faced a strong Westgate School team last week. Despite a valiant effort, Westgate's consistent shooting proved the difference in the final score.
Year 9 Options Evening
We invite Year 9 students and their parents to attend our Options Evening today from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Our PE Department will be available to discuss our exciting GCSE PE and Cambridge Nationals Sports Studies courses offered in Years 10 and 11.
