Extractor System Failure

Unfortunately, our extraction system and gas interlocking systems in the main kitchen are still not functioning. Therefore, we remain restricted in what hot food we can provide. We will update you on the repair when we have any additional information and apologise for the inconvenience.

Fitness Suite Club Cancelled

Please note that KS4 Fitness Suite club is cancelled on Friday 19 May due to staff shortage. Apologies for any inconvenience this causes.

Car Park Access

If you are dropping or collecting your child during the day or need to come into college to drop something off, please park on the road or in the village hall car park and then walk onto site. Parents/carers should not be accessing any staff car parks unless it is an emergency or by prior arrangement. Thank you for your understanding. We ask that you drive respectfully when in the vicinity of the college.

Good Hygiene

There are a few cases of diarrhoea and vomiting in the community and amongst children. Please remind your children to wash their hands thoroughly to avoid the spread of germs. Thank you.

Administration of Medicines

To safeguard pupils on site, we must be made aware of all medical conditions or injuries that require management. All medicines, both prescribed or over the counter, must be brought to Visitor Reception by a parent/carer and given to the Welfare Officer, Miss Smith. Similarly, if your child sustains an injury or is hospitalised, you must contact Miss Smith prior to their return, so the appropriate paperwork can be completed. All forms and information can be found on the website: Medical - Swanmore College (swanmore-school.co.uk)

Online Safety

It has come to our attention that there is a Swanmore account on the social media platform TikTok. We would like to remind parents and carers of the age restrictions on these apps and would encourage you to regularly check your child's phone to ensure they are using technology appropriately. Here is a link with more information: Social media | NSPCC

'Napkin' Prank

We are aware that some pupils are ripping each other's pockets off their shirts and saying 'napkin' as a prank. Please be aware that any pupil who is seen doing this will be sent to the Learning Hub immediately and may be liable for the damage. We ask that you discuss this inappropriate behaviour with your child please.

As part of our enrichment opportunities, we are offering the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award to our Year 9 pupils next year. Application details have been emailed this week and the deadline for returning this is 9 June 2023. Please note that your child will need to choose the DofE enrichment option for either the Autumn 2023 or Spring 2024 term if they wish to take up this opportunity.
