13 December 2023

All Pupils

Non-Uniform Day

Reminder that we are having a non-uniform day tomorrow, Wednesday 13 December 2023, to raise funds for our partner schools in Ghana. We would like to ask that pupils either pay £1 via SCOPAY or bring in £1 cash to donate during tutor time. Pupils are invited to wear a Christmas jumper or something Red, Yellow, or Green to symbolise the Ghana flag. If they are partaking in a physical enrichment, they must still dress appropriately for the activity. No crop tops or short skirts/dresses/shorts please.

Last Day of Term

On Friday 15 December 2023, Swanmore College will close early, and pupils will finish at 12.40 pm. Our transport operators have been informed and will be on site to collect pupils. Please note that any pupils who travel on the 649 Stagecoach service will need to make alternative arrangements for getting home early as Stagecoach are unable to amend the collection time from 3.00 pm to 12.40 pm.

Pupils are invited to wear something 'Christmassy' on the last day, Friday 15 December 2023. This is not a non-uniform day and pupils are still expected to wear their normal College uniform with a token Christmas gesture. This might be one of the following:

·          a jumper

·          earrings

·          a hat

·          socks

·          a piece of tinsel

PE Clubs and Kit Reminder

Please see attached details of the PE clubs and fixtures that are taking place this week. Please be reminded that from January onwards, all pupils are expected to be wearing shin pads for football lessons and when using the STP or MUGA at break/lunch or after-school for clubs. PE teachers will let pupils know when they are taking part in football and must bring shin pads to their PE lessons. Kit marks will be issued for any pupils who do not have these.

Academic Reports

The first report for this academic year is now live on your SIMs Parent App. Further information about the app and instructions on how to log onto your SIMs Parent Account via a web browser are available at: https://swanmore-school.co.uk/swanmore-sims-parent-app/

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we do have a delay on some data from some teachers. We have put in a 'P' code meaning that the data is 'pending'. We will re-issue the reports with the full data where applicable after the Christmas holiday.

We have also changed the way that we report KS3 English and Maths. Previously we had included a Standardised Age Score. We have now merged the data from these scores into the Mastery grade in order to make English and Maths more consistent with the other subjects.

Should you have any concerns or questions about the content of the report or accessing it through SIMs Parent App, please contact Dr Sleat - Assistant Headteacher care of: reports-help@swanmore-sec.hants.sch.uk

Notice from the Food Prep Team

We have a number of unclaimed pots, trays, bags and ingredients in NO1 and NO2 which pupils have brought in and not collected. We will be clearing these out at the end of term, so if you are missing a muffin tin, pie dish, assortment of plastic containers or bags, please can you ask your child to come and collect them before Friday.

We are always in need of larger plastic tubs, so if you are lucky enough to be gifted a tub of Christmas chocolates or have any Christmas takeaways, we would appreciate your empty containers and lids in January.
