Open Evening and Early Finish - Thursday, 19 September 2024
Please find attached details of our Open Evening, which is taking place on Thursday, 19 September 2024 from 5.30 pm - 8 pm. The college will close early for all pupils, at 12.40 pm on this date. Transport operators have been notified of this. Please note that any pupils who travel on the 649 Stagecoach service will need to make alternative arrangements for getting home early as Stagecoach are unable to amend the collection time from 3.00 pm to 12.40 pm.
Umbrella Company Auditions
Dance and Drama company auditions will be taking place during Open Evening on Thursday, 19 September 2024. The Drama audition is scheduled for 5:30-6:45pm followed by the Dance audition at 6:45-8pm. Both auditions will take place in the Performance Building. Pupils auditioning for Drama should arrive in their uniform and pupils dancing should arrive in their PE/Dance kit. If your child would like to audition for this amazing opportunity, please send them to collect a helper's form from R03, which parents/carers will need to complete and return. Successful pupils will be invited to attend Umbrella company rehearsals, which will take place after college on Tuesdays.
Public Bus Service - Bishops Waltham
We have been informed that the Stagecoach bus service 649 that serves Bishops Waltham is currently oversubscribed and operating at maximum capacity. Stagecoach have asked us to remind anyone using this service that their 69 route also serves Bishops Waltham and leaves approximately 10 minutes before the 649 service every weekday morning. The timetables can be viewed on their website: Winchester Route 69
ClassCharts - Homework and Absences
All homework will be set on ClassCharts so as a parent/carer, you will be able to see what homework is being set for your child. Please see instructions on how to do this in the ClassCharts guide on our website: Slide 1 (swanmore-school.co.uk)
Polite reminder that you should now be using ClassCharts to report all absences. The current absence email addresses will be available to report absences until Friday, 20 September 2024 but will be closed at that point.
Extra-Curricular Clubs
We are pleased to be able to offer an array of extracurricular clubs for our pupils. Please see our website for details of all the Autumn term clubs that we are running: Swanmore School - College Clubs (swanmore-school.co.uk). We operate a free, late bus service for any pupils attending clubs, this departs from the bus lane at 4.40pm every Tuesday-Friday.
Word of the Week - Perceivable
We have introduced a new literacy initiative to pupils this year - Word of the Week (WOTW). At the start of each week, teachers will introduce the WOTW to pupils and they will be encouraged to utilise the word in their lessons and around the school site, being awarded ICC points for correctly using it throughout the week. This week's word is 'perceivable'. Please do encourage your child to use the WOTW at home too!
