The Word of the Week is 'penultimate'. Adjective. last but one in a series of things; second last. "the penultimate chapter of the book".

Pupils will be encouraged to use this word in their work and around the college this week. Please also encourage them to use it at home with you too!

Wessex Rotary Shoebox Appeal

We are pleased to be supporting the Wessex Rotary Shoebox Appeal again this year and are asking for your help! Each tutor group will have 2 shoeboxes to fill with gifts for children in other countries less fortunate than us. We are asking all pupils to help with this by bringing in some items to add to their tutor shoeboxes. Please see attached flyer for information on this appeal and ideas of what to donate. Please note that we can only fill the shoeboxes they have provided to us, so please just send in unwrapped items to put in these and tutors will pack them. Please send donations in with your child by Friday 11 October 2024. Thank you for your support with this worthy cause.

Simon Says - Parent Sign-Up Required

We are pleased to be welcoming Simon Says volunteers to Swanmore College on Tuesday 8 October 2024, to give a talk to parents/carers around supporting teenagers through grief. This session will run from 4 - 5pm and we have 25 places available. Simon Says will cover:

• Simon Says and what they offer
• How do teenagers grieve, what is normal?
• How to help a grieving teenager
• Activities, books and resources
• An opportunity to ask questions

KS4 Careers Publication

Please see attached a monthly edition of a Careers magazine, supporting the apprenticeship route to continuing education. This may be of interest to any of our Year 10 or 11 pupils who are looking at alternative pathways after they finish at Swanmore College.

Mo-ichido Karate Club

Steve Willis Training - Apprenticeship Centre Open Days
