Literacy Week

Next week is Literacy Week and Swanmore College is running an 'Extreme Reading Competition'. We are inviting pupils to submit a photo of themselves enjoying their favourite book in an unusual place! We are looking for the most fun, creative (and safe) ways you can celebrate your love of reading. Please email your entries to: literacy@swanmore-school.co.uk by Monday 25 November 2024.

Our theme for Literacy Week is ‘reading for pleasure’ and to promote this we will be having DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) time for all KS3 classes. Staff and students will be encouraged to drop everything and read for 5-10 minutes at periods throughout the day. Please ensure pupils have a reading book with them at all times, so they can join in with this.

Signing In & Out

A reminder that pupils need to sign in and out via Pupil Reception if they arrive at school late or leave the site during the normal college day. We have had several pupils arriving on site without signing in and this is a safeguarding concern which causes anomalies with our attendance registers. We would appreciate your support in reminding pupils to do this when you drop them off or pick them up.

Parent View Survey

Please do share your views with us by completing the Parent View Survey that was issued last week. You can access the survey here: https://forms.gle/o3jfvoSRSvJT6rzPA. This is your opportunity to share your views about the College and should only take around 10 minutes to complete. The deadline for completion is Friday 22 November 2024.

Trip deposit payments – Cash or Cheque

Swanmore College asks for trip deposits by cash or cheque as we are unable to give refunds for these via Scopay. When pupils are randomly selected for a trip, as is often the case, we return deposits for those who are unsuccessful. We hope this explains why we must use this antiquated system of handling deposit funds.
