All Pupils
Attendance
At Swanmore College, we believe that regular school attendance is crucial for the educational progress and overall wellbeing of our pupils. We have recently drafted a new attendance policy aimed at ensuring all pupils have the opportunity to benefit from consistent school attendance.
We highly value the input of our parents and carers, and we are keen to hear your thoughts on the draft policy. Please take the time to review the draft attendance policy, as attached. We invite you to share your feedback by emailing attendance@swanmore-sec.hants.sch.uk
Key points from the policy are below:
- Report all absences on ClassCharts before 8am with the reason for the absence where possible and attach medical evidence where applicable.
- Applying for leave of absence during term time must be done in writing to the Headteacher at least a month before the planned leave (see Appendix 2).
- A penalty notice request or a referral for prosecution may be submitted to the Local Authority should:
· The parent fails to submit a leave of absence request in advance of taking the leave.
· An application for a leave of absence is not agreed by the Headteacher but is still taken.
· A longer period is taken more than the agreed number of days.
See Appendix 1 for further details regarding the issuance of Penalty Notices and fines.
- Appendix 4 is an Attendance Policy Quick Guide for Parents/Carers
Shoebox Appeal
Thank you once again to everyone who has donated gifts and items for the Wessex Rotary shoebox appeal. The boxes are being collected this week, but we are still in need of £1 coins to attach to each shoebox to cover the cost of transportation and administration. If anyone is willing to donate some money for this, please ask your child to drop it into pupil reception tomorrow, or parents/carers can drop any money to visitor reception to help us with this worthy cause.
Maths Clinic – Wednesday Lunchtime
Is your child needing some support with their maths homework or wanting a bit of extra challenge with their maths? If so, we run a lunchtime maths club in M11 every Wednesday from 12.40 - 1.10pm. This is a drop-in session and is available to all pupils. Please see the attached poster for further details.
Rugby Club Cancelled – Thursday 17 October 2024
Please note that there will be no rugby club after school this Thursday, 17 October 2024, due to a late fixture taking place. This club will be back on next week. Details of all our clubs can be found on the website: Swanmore School - College Clubs (swanmore-school.co.uk)
