Careers Talks – Parent Help Needed

We are looking for people willing to give up a small amount of time to share their career journey with our young people. We have several events planned during the school year and would appreciate members of the public who could come and talk to small groups (up to about 25 pupils) about how their career has evolved over time, either through an evolving job role or the transferring of skills to different roles completely.

The talks are primarily on a Tuesday morning from 8.30 - 9.40 am. The first session is on Tuesday 12 November 2024 and would be with tutor groups in Year 9. You would be with a tutor group and their tutor would be supervising the group throughout.

If this is something you feel you would like to be involved with, could you please email careers-help@swanmore-sec.hants.sch.uk and we will be in touch to open a discussion about how you may be able to get involved. 

Christmas Lunches

We will be holding our annual Christmas Lunch and Celebration during the week commencing Monday 16 December 2024. We will be hosting each year group on a separate day for pupils to enjoy this festive occasion with their friends. The days are as follows (subject to change due to numbers):

·       Monday 16 December - Year 7

·       Tuesday 17 December - Year 8

·       Wednesday 18 December - Year 9

·       Thursday 19 December - Year 10

·       Friday 20 December - Year 11

If your child would like to take part, lunches need to be pre-booked and paid for by Wednesday 6 November 2024 at the latest, so that food can be ordered. The price is £5.50 per ticket for a 2-course lunch and entertainment. A copy of the menu is attached, which includes a vegetarian option. Orders can be placed via Scopay or by completing and returning the contract that was emailed this week, along with payment to Pupil Reception.

PE Information Evening - Year 10 & 11

Please see attached a reminder about the information evening for parents/carers of Year 10 & 11 pupils currently studying GCSE PE or Cambridge Nationals Sports Studies. This is on Tuesday 22 October 2024 from 6 pm. The meeting will provide guidance on filming for practical elements of the course.

Trojans Rugby Club

Please see attached flyer for Trojans Rugby club. All abilities and ages from 4 years upwards are welcome to apply to train and compete. Please contact Trojans for further details.
