Community Grant Applications

Due to the volume of applications that we have already received for the community grant, we are bringing forward the deadline for applying to Friday 6 December 2024 at 3pm. The form will be close at this time.

Hampshire County Council have given us some funding again this year to help support families who have the greatest need. If you need funding towards any of the following, please follow the link to the Google form and fill it in:

  • Energy and water:  a set amount towards energy and water bills
  • Food: a set amount is available
  • Essentials linked to energy and water in recognition that a range of costs may arise which directly affect a household’s ability to afford or access energy, food and water.
  • Wider essentials to support with wider essential needs not linked to energy and water.

The deadline for completing this form is now Friday 6 December 2024 at 3pm. The form will then be closed. Please click this link to complete the form: https://forms.gle/RGQSvEdpeshtz82J7

Reading Recommendations from the English Department

Following our recent parents' evening meetings, we received several requests for book recommendations to support reading at home. To help with this, we have provided a link to our college library page, where you will find reading lists carefully curated for all age groups. Please scroll to the bottom of the page to explore additional useful links and resources: Swanmore School - Library

Reading plays a vital role in your child's development, enhancing their vocabulary, critical thinking skills, and overall academic success. As parents/carers, you can support their reading journey by:

  • Encouraging them to read regularly at home, even just 15-20 minutes a day.
  • Engaging in discussions about what they’re reading, such as their favourite characters or interesting themes.
  • Providing access to a variety of texts, including fiction, non-fiction, and articles of interest.

We hope these resources will inspire and support your child to develop a lifelong love of reading. Thank you for your continued partnership in fostering their learning and growth.

Heritage Language GCSEs for Years 9, 10 and 11

We offer Modern Foreign Language GCSE sittings to the children of parents who are not native English speakers.  This can only be offered to those children who speak and write in their parent’s native language at a reasonable level.  We teach French and Spanish here at Swanmore, so this gives the opportunity for native speakers to take a GCSE in one of the following languages:

  • Arabic
  • Cantonese
  • French
  • German
  • Greek
  • Italian
  • Mandarin
  • Persian
  • Polish
  • Portuguese
  • Russian
  • Spanish
  • Turkish
  • Urdu
